Replaceable Warranty Items
Items returned for warranty replacement must be at the FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) level.
Replaceable items/parts:
L4*
L4 definition:
- Notebook disassembled down to the notebook chassis with motherboard & LCD - All other components have been removed, including:
--- Optical disk drive (with bezel)
--- Keyboard (with keyboard cover strip)
--- Battery
--- Hard drive (with hard drive brackets)
--- Wireless card
--- Processor, including fan
--- Main memory
- Items returned to Intel along with the L4 will not be replaced
--- Example: A defective L4 returned with optical drive included. The optical drive will not be returned with the replacement L4.
- Optical disk drive (send in drive along with bezel) - Keyboard - Battery - AC adapter
* Before the L4 can be returned, the keyboard (INCLUDING keyboard cover strip), optical disk drive INCLUDING bezel, hard disk INCLUDING brackets (if present) and all other components not covered by the L4 definition must first be removed.
L4 Returns and Customizable Notebook Panels (CNP)
- The CNP will not be replaced/returned - The reseller will be required to replace the CNP - When an L4 is returned under the terms of the warranty, if a CNP has already been attached to it, this will not be replaced together with the L4;
the reseller is responsible for replacing the panel on behalf of the end user.
L4 Returns and OS stickers
- Operating System (OS) license stickers placed on the chassis will not be replaced in the case of an L4 return - The OS license sticker should ideally be attached to a removable part (e.g., the hard drive cover) and this part removed before sending in the L4
- It will be the reseller’s responsibility to replace any CPU or Intel®Centrino Mobile Technology stickers after appropriately re-certifying the system.
